Google may have launched Google Home a few weeks now, but we probably have not realized what it can do. One of the first very inventive apps was invented by Redditor Hovee, who uses Google Home to turn on his fireplace remotely.
Unfortunately, it is not that easy for everyone who is interested.
For starters, you'll need a processor Raspberry Pi, one Global Cache iTach TCP/IP relay, as well as the Google Assistant connected to one IFTTT account. In addition to this, you need to equip the Raspberry Pi processor with it Home Assistant, and you'll need to install some additional custom scripts and some more components that will help you with the settings.
Once this is done, all you have to do is say the magic phrase "OK, Google" and the device in your home will ask the new Assistant AI to light the fireplace.
For those interested in the construction of the device, Hovee has published detailed instructions for the project in Reddit.
See how it works below video.
