Friend of the LOTTO draws? One of the biggest draw scams in US history came to an end, as her brain was found guilty at a court in Iowa (Iowa) late last month.
Eddie Tipton, 54, admitted developing malware in the form of a DLL file. He then uploaded the DLL to the secure computers of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MSLA), which runs lotteries in 33 states, in Colombia, Puerto Rico and the USA.
Tipton was able to do this because he was Urbandale's head of security at Iowa. THE scammer technician was one of five people who had access to these computers in the draw room.
According to the principles, Tipton uploaded the DLL file to secure computers in order to earn money from the Lotto lottery (and not only) of MSLA.
These computers were in a very safe room with 24 watch by security cameras. Prosecutors reported that Tipton was able to bypass security by changing the surveillance system so cameras record only one second per minute.
So Tipton found the time he needed to import the DLL file into MSLA computers.

The file allowed Tipton to experiment with the random number generator (RNG) algorithm until it was able to produce predictable numbers winning specific XMUMX (27 May, 22 November and 29 December) two specific days a week ( Wednesday or Saturday) and after a specific time (after 20: 00).
This malicious DLL also contained code that allowed it to delete itself after a certain amount of time. However, the researchers they were lucky as one of those files failed to delete.
Tipton recruited two friends to cash the winning tickets. The first was his brother Tommy Tipton, 53, a former Texas judge and police officer. The second was Robert Rhodes, a Texas businessman and Tipton's former colleague at a firm information technologys.
Tipton acknowledged that his plan allowed him to "predict numbers in lotteries in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma and Wisconsin."
Fraudsters won 2005, but they made the mistake of 2011 when they repeatedly tried to win a LOTTO draw of 16,5 worth millions of dollars in Iowa. The winning ticket was from the 29 2010 draw December XNUMX.
Iowa's laws dictate that all lottery winners should be made public, but Rhodes and some of his associates have repeatedly tried to collect the voucher anonymously or via intermediaries. The Iowa authorities suspected something was wrong and started an investigation, which eventually led to the arrests of the three.
