Meltdown and Specter: As all the companies directly involved (Intel, AMD and others) have started to get CPU updates affected by Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities, OEM and motherboard manufacturers are not left out and BIOS / UEFI updates are coming out for infected computers.
Although not all companies have patches for vulnerable products, most of them have promised updates in the coming months.
These BIOS / UEFI updates are part of the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities that appeared earlier this year.
OS-level software fixes have largely fixed Meltdown, but both Microsoft and the Linux community have said that a firmware solution would be needed to fully address the Specter vulnerability.
