How about using one car without a driver? The same question acquires a different value if we put the Mercedes-Benz F 015 in the car. The F 015 Luxury in Motion, is a completely different approach to the future of transport. Starting with the assumption that space will eventually be the greatest luxury in the new car, the concept of self-driving is treated pretty much in the same way that a smartphone makes voice calls.
The SlashGear saw the new achievement of Mercedes-Benz and said:
The surprise of CES 2015 in Las Vegas was definitely F 015. Much bigger in the eye than Class S, F 015 appeared with the new arc style on four huge wheels.
Its apparent simplicity actually hides too many details. For example, the curve of the roof line is steeper at the rear than the front of the roof, giving it a sense of forward motion, even when F 015 is stationary. The rims are 26-inch with slabbish alloys.
In the meantime, the glass designs the body almost imperceptibly. Mercedes designers have used thousands of different sizes to "silence" the transition between materials. In F 015, metal, wood, leather and glass are all inserted together.
“The F 015 may be able to drive itname, but not smartly”
The impressive design hides the impressive technology. The Stereos cameras that are integrated into the door handles and windows see the road 360 degrees, and all this is enriched with radar and ultrasonic sensors.
In fact, at the moment there is only one disadvantage. F 015 is able to drive independently but is not yet able to drive intelligently.
"Because we designed the future of the car, using today's technology, we put a lot of effort into the wrapper," says Holger Hutzenlaub, chief designer of Mercedes-Benz. "We finally made the decision to equip the interior of the vehicle, not the sensors on the outside to enable autonomous driving."
This means that what drives the car and responds to the turns of a road is a pre-programmed software rather than a car.
However, Hutzenlaub is confident in his team's technology, noting that the former self-driving cars that exist as modified models operate successfully on the road across Germany.
