But of course Edge! THE Microsoft πραγματοποίησε μια σειρά από νέα σημεία benchmarks για τον προσδιορισμό του πιο ενεργειακά αποδοτικού προletterof browsing on Windows 10 and as expected, Edge beat all its competitors.
Redmond says the Edge was specifically designed to "prioritize energy efficiency and deliver longer battery life without any special power saving mode or changes to the default settings."
So to prove that new Browser είναι πολύ μπροστά από τους αντιπάλους του Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, και Opera, η εταιρεία πραγματοποίησε μια σειρά δοκιμών σε ένα Surface Book.
The first benchmarks were conducted in a controlled laboratory environment and using dedicated tracking equipment, trying to determine which browser needs more energy for typical activities such as opening web pages, scrolling through articles, playing videos, and other activities.
The tests were performed on the same websites with each browser (Facebook, Google, το YouTube, Amazon και η Wikipedia).
As expected, Microsoft Edge was at the top of the charts with 2068 points, while Chrome had 2819 points (the fewer points the better). Firefox was the worst browser in these tests with 3161 points.
Microsoft then used telemetry data (information that is collected from Windows 10 computers from around the world) to compare its results with real-life data. Edge was actually the most energy-efficient browser, followed by Firefox and Google Chrome.
According to data, Microsoft has managed to deliver from 17 up to 70% more battery life than its competitors in a streaming video test.
And while these elements could actually make the Edge browser quite attractive, there is another reason why you should not be tempted to replace Google Chrome and Firefox: the lack of features.
Not to mention that the investigation was carried out by Microsoft.
