Microsoft Edge has overtaken Apple's Safari to become the second most popular program desktop browser, according with Statcounter.
In March, Microsoft Edge reached 9,65% of the desktop market share computers, down from 9,61% in February, while Apple's Safari dropped from 9,77% to 9,56% over the same period.
Obviously, Microsoft Edge would take second place as it is pre-installed on Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is also available on macOS and Linux devices.
Την περασμένη εβδομάδα, τόσο ο Microsoft Edge 100 όσο και ο Google Chrome 100 started rolling out, bringing minor updates but also a major change that allows for three-digit versions.
Microsoft Edge has evolved a lot since the release of the original version of the browser along with Windows 10 almost seven years ago. The old Edge was released exclusively on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile and was updated with new features twice a year. This of course made it impossible to compete with other browsers that used much faster traffic programs.
Microsoft has finally adopted the open source project Chromium and since then Microsoft Edge is now a stable alternative to Google Chrome. In recent months, however, more and more people are complaining that the browser is constantly taking on new features.
Surely there should be a fine line between the procaseof features that aren't needed that much, and focusing on the basics, like performance and ease of use.
