Microsoft recently announced a new program for hiring people with autism, trying in this way not only to create a diverse workforce, but also to demonstrate its commitment to supporting people with special needs, as the company's new slogan “do more.”
Mary Ellen Smith, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Operations Microsoft, who has an 19-time son suffering from autism, he said that the pilot project will be launched in May with the help of the Specialisterne employment company.
In total, 10 full-time jobs are offered first at Redmond's headquarters, and as Smith said, the program would be extended to more places and other parts if the pilot project was successful.
"People with autism will bring the power we need to Microsoft, each person is different, some have an amazing ability to retain detailed information or excel in math and coding. It's a talent pool that we want to offer Microsoft! ” reports.
Microsoft is known as one of the companies that have invested millions of dollars in projects which are designed to help people with special needs. So by hiring people with autism, he's essentially continuing those efforts while showing a very human face.
The company announced that all applicants who wish to submit their resumes will have to use a special address email (msautism [at] microsoft.com) to send them. The program will start in May 2015.
Let's hope that the program goes well and that at some point it will also be implemented in Greece.
