Redmond (Microsoft) revealed his intention to add support Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance to protect consumers, as announced by Windows Security Program Director Dustin Ingalls.
The FIDO Alliance aspires to “address the lack of interoperability between strong identification devices, as well as the problems που αντιμετωπίζουν οι χρήστες με τη δημιουργία πολλαπλών ονομάτων χρήστη και κωδικών πρόσβασης.”
The team "plans to change the nature of identity by developing specifications for an open, scalable, interoperable set of mechanisms that will replace our reliance on passwords for the security authentication of online service users."
Two authentication methods are provided, as explained in the graph below. (Fingerprints and dongle)
Ingalls he says that its project Microsoft for FIDO will be built into current Windows 10 Technical preview, και θα επιτρέπει την είσοδο στα “Windows 10 sign-in, Azure Active Directory, στα SaaS services όπως το Office 365 Exchange Online, Salesforce, Citrix, Box, Concur” but also other services using “two-factor authentication and all without a password”
