Following the adventurous publication that changed 3 times last week, Microsoft has finally managed to inform Windows friends about who qualifies for a free upgrade to Windows 10 RTM.
The first report from company wanted anyone running a preview build of the operating system to be license-free by offering some sort of reward for helping develop the new Windows.
But the company seems to explain that what she was trying to say was that the new operating system would only be available to those who already have genuine copies of Windows 7 or 8.1.
On July 29, when Microsoft releases Windows 10, Windows Insiders will have two διαφορετικές επιλογές: να παραμείνουν στο program trials and receive every new Windows 10 that comes out (with an expiration date), or choose to purchase a Windows 10 license if they use “pirated” software (Windows 7 and 8) to continue using the operating system.
Those who will not buy a license will be given the option to go back to the previous operating system they were using because the preview builds of Windows 10 expire at some point. Another option, of course, is to upgrade to the next preview build…
As you may understand, Microsoft wants to keep Insiders.
Gabe Aul, Windows Program Lead Insider, said he hopes they will remain in the program to help the company develop future Windows updates.
Of course, updates even if you have pirated Windows 7 and 8 will come for free. The problem is, however, that each new build is having problems, and that's why Microsoft has it for free, looking for experimental animals.
So: Windows 10 will be available for free only to users who have a genuine copy of Windows 7 or 8.1, so for now (who knows Microsoft can change their minds again), free availability for pirated users does not apply.
Unless you want to become a Microsoft experiment.
