The data on the evolution of mobile and internet banking confirm and show the trend no longer for the next few years, but for the next few months, which is expected to gradually change the way we have been used to this day.

In the first quarter of 2012 there were 1.597.000 registered users in mobile banking, banking customers who could, if they wished to do transactions through a mobile banking application as defined by each bank. Of these, as soon as 98.000 was approximately activated customers, they used mobile banking once in a year. The number of active customers who used it at least once a month for one year declined to 52.000. The value of cash transactions (transfers between accounts, various payments, etc.) by mobile phone approximated 80 million.

At less than 1,5 time the image changed radically. In particular, in the third quarter of 2013, which is the latest data available, subscribed customers in mobile banking increased by about one million and reached 2.580.534, 208.000 enabled and active banking customers outperformed 144.000, with ever-increasing trends. It is characteristic that between the second and third quarter of 2013, active customers increased by 30%, with the value of cash transactions approaching 130 million without calculating the value of stock trading.

Similarly, the number of active clients is stable in 800.000 between the first quarter of 2012 and the third quarter of 2013. However, the value of monetary transactions grew by around 30 billion from around 22 billion in the current period.

Banking executives point out that a key factor in further boosting the growth of mobile banking in our country is the fact that smart phones supporting banking are particularly penetrating, which is now approaching 40% of mobile phone users of the highest rates at European level.

It is worth noting that the classics are still experiencing a great growth, now as alternatives και ειδικότερα τα ΑΤΜ και τα APS. In addition, the annual bill payments to APS reach approximately 700 million euros.

Many transactions can be done via mobile. Examples include: money transfers between customer accounts, to third party accounts in the same bank and in another bank, payment of credit cards, loan installments, accounts (PPC, EYDAP, VAT, OAEE, IKA, e-Receipt, OTE, mobile telephony, Internet etc.). Also, prepaid charging option and withdrawal from credit/prepaid card etc.
