Mylar New approach to data security

What is the Mylar Platform?  For almost all Internet users, the risks of personal data miscommunication have always been known. However, until recently, the dangers came from some obscure people hackers, recent revelations have highlighted the danger represented by tapping with the stamp of security services.

It is the Mylar platform, which, according to a MIT Technology Review, offers encryption services that are activated on the user's computer before the data reaches the server.

The platform Mylar is the result of the combination team of MIT researchers with the Meteor Development Group. In essence, it is a redesign of the architecture of web applications to offer greater data protection against malicious attacks.

User data is subject to the encryption process before being sent to the provider's server, they arrive at the server encrypted, and decryption occurs only when the data reaches another computer. That is, everything created by the Mylar platform is kept encrypted as long as it remains on the server.

In addition, the decryption of the data is done only with the use of the appropriate password, while in the event that there is a need to share the data among several users, they are provided encryption, via Mylar. In fact, the specific keys can also be useful in the event that a user loses the codes and is at risk of permanently losing its data.

According to MIT researchers, users do not notice any difference in their way of working; in addition, if data is requested by a government service, the server can not deliver decrypted data. Although the general idea is not new, Mylar's pioneers promise that this is a useful tool that could be used on a massive scale.

The platform is currently being tested by a group of patients who through a Mylar website exchange medical information with their doctors. Meanwhile, MIT researchers have also created a test internal chat that combines the ability to share photos and a calendar application.
