OnSight: software from NASA and Microsoft for 3D rides on Mars

NASA and Microsoft scientists are working together to develop an 3D simulation of the Martian environment.

So, her researchers NASA and Microsoft are working together to develop a new software they call . The new software will be able to create a 3D simulation of the Martian surface that scientists will be able to explore from the comfort of their desks.nasa 3d mars

In one report published for this particular project, NASA scientists report that the 3D simulation of the Martian environment will be created using which have been collected by spacecraft that are in orbit as well as the rovers that exist and are currently circulating on the Red Planet.

Most of this data comes from NASA's Curiosity rover, which landed in Gale Crater on Mars in August 2012. The rover is still in , and besides, scientists expect that at some point in the next few days, it will carry out a new drilling on the surface of Mars.

Once the 3D simulation of Mars is created, researchers will be able to walk through the 3D landscape and study it thoroughly using Microsoft's wearable technology, HoloLens.

Note that, although NASA and Microsoft scientists are currently developing OnSight software that will work flawlessly with HoloLens, when the new technology is completed, it will be available across the scientific community.
