According to his report Venture Beat, a New York police official during a chat, admitted that the possibility of using the Google Glass. "We've got a couple of sets of Google's smart glasses and we're testing them to find out their usefulness during police investigations, especially during patrols," the officer said, to complete "check their way".

If this is true, it would not be a great surprise. In the summer of 2013, a federal judge instructed the New York Police Department to find ways to stop violations of the rights of citizens, particularly minorities. Within the framework of this particular mandate, it was proposed to use wearable cameras in five police stations where controversial regular investigations were observed.

As studies in the United States have shown, the use of cameras that "monitor" the movements of police officers has improved their behavior during of their duties. Possibly Google Glass will come to cover this requirement.

For its part, Google has stated that it is not cooperating with the New York authorities and that the city police may have acquired the set of spectacles through the program Google Glass . The cost of using a set of glasses together with the related amounts to 1.500 dollars.

Ήδη από το 2012, η αστυνομία της πόλης και η Microsoft συνεργάζονται για τη δημιουργία ενός εργαλείου (Domain Awareness ) that will collect and manage surveillance data, mainly for the needs of counter-terrorism operations.
