Niantic, the company behind the Pokémon Go games, income and Harry Potter flew out for 2020, 1 million players που "έκλεβαν".
In a publication, Niantic informed its public that in 2020 banned 1 million players who stole in the game. It also revealed that for 2020, over 5 million players were issued bans across all augmented reality games. 20% of these players were denied entry.
More than 90% of the "cheaters" stopped their "illegal" activities after the first warning, while 10% continued to cheat their teammates.
With most Niantic ARG game players stuck indoors due to the pandemic, most of the game cheats use tools to cell phones to spoof their location to continue playing the games, pretending to be in another place.
Spoofing may seem harmless, but with players having access to remote bases, gyms, etc., cheaters can dominate the game.
We read from Niantic's statement: "We don't talk much about our anti-cheat efforts, in part because we don't want to provide cheaters with information that can help them better understand our detection mechanisms. But, rest assured that reluctance us to share, it is not for lack of effort or intention on our part."
