Η Nokia announced the establishment of an investment fund, which is expected to invest 100 million dollars in technologies that develop startups for use within the cars.
The investment capital has the name Connected Car Fund και η διαχείρισή του θα γίνεται από το Nοkia Growth Partners (NGP) και σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση της φινλανδικής εταιρείας «θα επενδύει σε εταιρείες των οποίων οι καινοτομίες θα είναι σημαντικές για την ανάπτυξη της διασύνδεσης και της νοημοσύνης στα οχήματα».
This fund will be closely linked to Nokia's HERE and is expected to identify companies and technologies that can support a range of applications and services around HERE.
It is worth noting that the HERE is a part that will remain under Nokia's control after the acquisition of the Devices and Services Microsoft. The agreement provides that HERE's patents can be used in devices with the operating system Windows Phone and devices of its basic characteristics Microsoft, for the next four years. However, Nokia will retain control of the unit, which is expected to generate significant profits in the future.
Nokia is not the only company active in integrating digital capabilities into future vehicles. Apple has already announced CarPlay in partnership with Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and Volvo, and in collaboration with several automakers has created a service for the use of iPhone by drivers, only by using their voice. At the same time, the Google has announced since January the Open Automotive Alliance with Audi as the first members, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai and Nvidia.
