October marks the start of European Cyber Security Month (ECSM) and, given what is happening this year, this campaign has never been more important.
This year, cyber threats are on the rise as cybercriminals exploit the fear and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the crisis has accelerated the digitization of everyday life, which makes it easier for cybercriminals to identify potential victims and target both individuals and businesses.
ECSM's official motto for 2020 is "Think Before U Click" highlighting the value of information on basic cyber hygiene rules for detecting and avoiding threats. The campaign focuses on two themes: "Digital Skills" and "Cyber Scams".
The thematic "Digital Skills" aims to provide participants with information about themee-privacy, such as personal data protection, cyberbullying and cyberstalking.
The 2nd theme, “Cyber Scams”, will offer information on current and potential cyber threats, such as phishing, scams electronics post officey for businesses and online shopping fraud.
Hundreds of activities will take place across Europe to promote digital security and cybersecurity, such as conferences, workshops, training seminars, webinars, presentations and more.
