You play online poker; A decade ago, you could probably have been making money online, because maybe the players were worse, and why you were not playing with scammers or bots.
Today, it seems more likely that you are playing with a malicious program that has been customized specifically to target online poker players.
According to the company security of ESET, one such malware it only targets PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker players.
Malicious software enters victim's computers, from application downloads, through P2P. Some of these apps are related to poker, and others have nothing to do with it.
Once the trojan (Win32/Spy.Odlanor) has “landed” on one system, παίρνει screenshots των poker clients που χρησιμοποιεί το θύμα (εάν υπάρχουν στο σύστημα) και τους αποστέλλει στον εισβολέα. Όπως καταλαβαίνετε από το όνομα του trojan (Spy), το κακόβουλο λογισμικό, δίνει την δυνατότητα στον επιτιθέμενο να κατασκοπεύει κάθε movement of the victim.
What happens next?
The screenshots include the player's ID, which then allows the attacker to discover their victim in one of the websites which we mentioned, and sits with him at the same table. From that point on, the victim has no chance.
If you're one of those who play, ESET's announcement of malware that is targeted directly to online poker players is a reminder for you.
