Η Opera Software announced today that will stop her support of the Opera VPN app on Android and iOS devices as of April 30, 2018.
The Opera Software released Opera VPN for Android and iOS sometime in 2016. The service was initially launched for free, and users could use it immediately without creating an account.
Opera VPN Gold released 2017 offering more features to customers who wanted to pay. The Gold Edition provided more services and new IPs.
For all those who had paid for this service, Opera Software offers free links to other VPNs or discounted subscriptions in two different plans, SurfEasy Ultra and Total VPN.
So all existing Gold users are upgraded free of charge to SurfEasy Ultra services, and free Opera VPN users can have a 80% discount on SurfEasy Total VPN.
SurfEasy offers more features and better functionality compared to OperaVPN. Supports unlimited use on up to five devices, (Windows, Mac, Amazon, Android and iOS) and offers access to servers from 28 different regions. The company has a strict no data logging policy and allows P2P traffic. The regular price of SurfEasy Ultra is $6,49 per month.
SurfEasy Total VPN supports fewer regions and does not connect to torrent servers. SurfEasy Total is available for $3,99 per month and an 80% discount for the first year, it will come down to $1 per month if paid for a year.
The company notes that Opera VPN Gold customers on iOS will be able to change service using the latest version of the Oprea VPN application. Free VPN Opera users will be able to "redeem the 80% discount" through the latest version of the Opera VPN application on Android and iOS.
Opera VPN Gold was available for approximately 30 dollars a year when 2017 was released.
