Desperate for cash, a number of people have apparently turned to Facebook in a bid to sell their instruments, a research UK newspaper.
A journalist from the newspaper Sunday Post recently reported that the brother of a woman in need of a kidney transplant donated one advertising on Facebook in search of a donor. In less than a week he received 11 responses. In one of the responses a man offered his kidney for 30.000 British pounds. Those who answered were of course from quite distant countries, such as India and Mexico.
An 22-old dad was willing to give his kidney for money, needed to get himself and his pregnant fiancé in their hometown of Hungary.
The cmfaceof the social network did not want to comment on the event.
Under the UK Human Tissue Act, it is illegal to buy or advertise to sell organs in United Kingdom, said Alan Clamp, chief executive of the Human Tissue Act, which oversees the regulation of organ donation, according to the Sunday Post. Similar laws exist in almost every country around the world. However, long hospital waiting lists that reach up to 7 years and the criticality of the situations force most patients to turn to the black market.
