The Outlook it's not a simple email client. This is known. In fact, it is not even a simple PIM (personal information manager), although these two features excel.
Outlook has several interesting additions with which we can increase operations and reduce the individual programs that we need to open each time to do some specific things. For example, the simplest addition is the Hotmail Connector (which has not changed its name despite changing Hotmail to Outlook.com). As its name says, this addition allows us to use Microsoft's cloud e-mail through Outlook. 2003, 2007, and 2010 are supported, and all we have to do is import your account details into Outlook.com. We will then download all our emails and see it in the program as a second Inbox.
Another interesting and very useful addition is the Social Connector. And this supports 2003 to 2010 versions (Outlook 2013 has it all built-in) and allows us to link Windows Live, SharePoint, but also popular third-party services such as Facebook and LinkedIn within Outlook. If you install the Social Connector on the Ribbon View tab, you'll see a new People Pane icon. We select Normal and we notice that every incoming email displays a small area at the bottom that shows the activity of that sender on the services and social networks we have linked to.
