Huawei to you cooperation with Leica today presented its two new high-end devices at an event in London. P9 and P9 Plus devices are here.
The new P9 smartphone features a full HD 5,2 inch screen, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 3000mAh battery and an Octa-core processor with 2.5GHz and 1.8GHz Kirin 955 chips.
The version released in Asia will have Dual-SIM, while the European model will have only one SIM card slot. There is also a model of the P9 in parchange of 128GB, but it won't appear in Europe.
The P9 Plus features 4GB RAM, a larger screen in full HD 5,5 inch, 64GB or 128GB disc capacity, and a larger 3,400mAh battery.
Both devices support microSD cards thus adding more space for storing photos, video, apps or anything else you want.
The devices have an aluminum chassis like P8 but use C type USB ports for connecting to other devices and charging.
Of course, the most remarkable feature of the devices is the camera, or to better say the cameras.
Instead of using a single sensor, like most smartphones, its partnership companys with Leica gives us a dual 12-megapixel sensor (a regular RGB, and a monochrome). The company says that the quality of the photos (color and black and white) will be superior.
The collaboration with Leica could bring a camera with redesigned UI, but much of Huawei's remaining EMUI looks unchanged with a quick look.
One thing you will not find on the device is a true Leica camera. While the company allegedly helped in the lens expertise, Huawei built the device, which will probably disappoint some readers.
Of course we can not yet talk about the performance of the dual camera. We are just mentioning the fact that seems paradoxical. Huawei & Leica partnership for a device without a Leica camera.
