From June 6 onwards, Turkish citizens using PayPal will still be able to log into them, but only to transfer their balances to some local bank account.

PayPal explains in Turkish that local financial regulator BDDK refused to issue a payments license to PayPal, forcing the company to comply with an order to cease operations in the country.

BDDK recently implemented a new policy that required PayPal to set up a local data center in Turkey to store its data within the country. As PayPal said, it complies with the policies that apply globally.

"We respect Turkey's desire to have the technology to deploy infrastructure within its borders, but PayPal is using a global payment platform operating in more than 200 markets, despite maintaining locally-based payment platforms with state-of-the-art infrastructure in each individual country,”The company told TechCrunch.

Companies like Facebook, the και η Microsoft
