Peppermint OS officially released the 7 version today. The new version is based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus.
The new Peppermint OS 7 is distributed for both architectures 64-bit 32-bit, but the 64-bit version offers full support for systems with Secureboot-UEFI.
Peppermint OS is a lightweight, stable, elegant and fast operating system with Open Source technologies. The latest version, Peppermint OS 7, borrows many packages from the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS distribution, which means it will provide long-term support. The operating system uses the LXDE desktop environment.
The new version also includes a new Ice Site Specific Browser framework, which allows users to install the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Chromium, και Google Chrome. Whisker Menu is the default operating menu, and xfce4-panel comes as a replacement for LXPanel.
It also brings a new app for the Peppermint Settings Panel, Mozilla Firefox as the default web browser, because Google has stopped supporting the 32-bit version of Chrome for Linux.
Let's mention that the new Peppermint Settings Panel enables the user to change up to the Firefox theme with the Firefox Themer. In addition, Pluma replaces Gedit as the default text editor.
