Peppermint OS officially released the 7 version today. The new version is based on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS Xenial Xerus.
The new Peppermint OS 7 is distributed for both 64-bit architectures 32-bit, but the 64-bit version offers full support for systems with Secureboot-UEFI.
Peppermint OS is a lightweight, stable, elegant and fast functional σύστημα με Open Source technologies. The latest version, Peppermint OS 7, borrows many packages from the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS distribution, which means it will provide long-term support. The operating system uses the LXDE desktop environment.
The new version also includes a new Ice Site Specific Browser framework, which allows users to install the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Chromium, and Google Chrome. The Whisker Menu is the default operating menu, and the xfce4-panel comes as a replacement for LXPanel.
It also brings new Peppermint Settings Panel app, Mozilla Firefox as default Browser on the web because Google stopped supporting the 32-bit version of Chrome for Linux.
Let's mention that the new Peppermint Settings Panel enables the user to change up to the Firefox theme with the Firefox Themer. In addition, Pluma replaces Gedit as the default text editor.
