In accordance with Digital Citizens Alliance, top pirate sites earn 227.000.000 dollars (€ 165.400.000) in annual ad revenue.
The major torrent sites, finds the report, have earnings of approximately $6.000.000 (€4.370.000) per year each. Most of that money comes from big-name companies like Amazon and McDonalds, according to the TorrentFreak
With Title "Good Money Gone Bad: Digital Thieves and the Online Business AdventureThe exhibition aims to give you a sense of how much money sites that host pirated content and have ads earn.
More than half of the amount mentioned above applies to top 30 larger websites.
“The 30 largest ad-supported websites studied earn an average of $4.400.000 (€3.200.000) annually. Even small sites can make more than $100.000 (€72.900) a year from advertising” says the report.
Amazon, American Express, Dell, Ford, Lego, McDonalds and Xfinity are just some of the companies whose ads appear on these websites.
