These popups ads usually appear above the content of the page as opposed to regular pop-ups, which appear in a separate window in front of or behind the browser window.
Often these ads that appear above the content of the page hide it by making it impossible to read something.
Ad overlays on trusted websites are few and far between, and if present, show an option to opt out emerging window to access the underlying content.
But there are other websites that leave you no choice.
The extension of Google Chrome, Overlay Blocker offers you a solution for these overlay ads. Adds an option to the right click of the browser's context menu to close all overlay ads on a page.
So each time you encounter an overlay ad on a webpage, you can use Overlay Blocker to get rid of it, even if it does not give you a closure option. Enabling the extension will relieve you of all overlays that are visible on your screen.
There is another similar extension, BehindTheOverlay, also available for Google Chrome. It supports the exact same feature but with shortcuts of your keyboard. To use it press Ctrl-Shift-X and the overlay ad will be removed automatically.
Η BehindTheOverlay extension it's not automated, but it's much better. You can of course try both of the links we quote.
