Sony Computer Entertainment's Project Morpheus prototype features a head-worn display with 1080p resolution and a 90-degree field of view, the company's senior executive Shuhei Yoshida said in a blog post. Accelerometer and gyroscopes which are built in system track the movements of the user's head, in conjunction with the Playstation Camera.
"While your head is spinning, h picture of the virtual world also revolves in real time. Also, Project Morpheus features our new 3D audio technology which recreates stereoscopic sounds in all directions, and changes in real-time depending on the orientation of your head,” notes Yoshida, adding that Project Morpheus works with the Dual Shock 4 Wireless Controller and PlayStation Move to provide an easy, plug-and-play virtual reality experience.
“The Project Morpheus prototype is the pinnacle of it workus over the last 3+ years as we evolve our vision for virtual reality. This prototype will act as the first development kit for PS4 developers who share our enthusiasm for this new medium," he adds.
