At the moment, when an astronaut has completed a job, he takes notes and receives new instructions from NASA by voice only.

Project Sidekick will use HoloLens to create augmented reality "spaces" facilitating communication and more.

So astronauts will be able to get detailed instructions and see exactly what needs to be done in the space they will have to work on.

Project Sidekick will initially have functions.

The Expert mode that will use Skype to comment in real time and will allow NASA to see exactly what the astronaut sees, and the Procedure mode that will use holograms that the crew will be able to interact with.

NASA states that Project Sidekick "will be used and evaluated during operations in an extreme environment (NASA Extreme Environment Operations ή NEEMO), μια εκστρατεία που θα ξεκινήσει στις 21 Ιούλη, από μια astronauts and technicians living on the underwater research station Aquarius. The exercise will last two weeks."

NASA did not say when it would arrive that HoloLens would reach the ISS.
