Prometheus Project by the National Technical University of Technology at Indiegogo

Prometheus Project: A team of undergraduate and doctoral students from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens created the voluntary research team "Prometheus" seven years ago. Prometheus Project

This group aims to build environmentally friendly standard electric vehicles.

He has successfully participated for seven consecutive years in the annual European Eco-marathon competition (http://tinyurl.com/lac7kpd) for educational institutions that also engage in the manufacture of fuel-efficient vehicles. THE it is organized under the auspices of the EU with the aim of highlighting Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Saving technologies.

The participation of the Prometheus Project team each year in the competition includes the bi πρωτότυπης και καινοτόμου έρευνας πάνω στον τομέα της ηλεκτροand then its implementation with the reconstruction of the research electric vehicle, "Pyrforos". This is designed and built entirely by the team members from raw materials and does not include commercial parts.Prometheus Project 1

It is noteworthy that the vast majority of European teams participating in the competition compose their vehicles by providing ready-made subsystems. In addition to improving the existing vehicle, the Prometheus team's immediate plans are to build on the know-how of its members for the construction of the city's pioneering car called "Pyrforos U", which will have very little energy consumption and will can form the basis for an industrial model to be produced in Greece.Prometheus Project prometheus project prometheus project prometheus project prometheus project

This action has achieved important positions in the ranking of the competitions and individual prizes in the emergence of innovative constructions as well as in the promotion of Greek culture. For example, the team was awarded 2013 between 200 participations with the "Best Team Spirit off-track award" on how the Greek culture emerged from the group as part of the race. In addition, in the 2015 contest, the Prometheus team managed to finish 10's position among fifty others in its category.

The above distinction is an admirable achievement, as these children left behind in ranking multi-budget groups.

Finally, they won the second "Safety Award" in the same competition, again among 200 teams for the innovative system of the driver in the event of a breakdown of the vehicle.

This activity also offers valuable intake of student performances for the implementation of integrated applications and is considered a necessary constructive complement to the technical knowledge provided by the Foundation. Moreover, it is a unique opportunity to create innovative scientific research in Greece and is our only way to stay Greek scientists in our country, as it allows us to hope that we can create by remaining in Greece.

The team consists of twenty undergraduate and doctoral students, of which approximately half are renewed each year, while its resources come exclusively from sponsorships and are used for the construction of the "Pyrfrous" components as well as the travel costs of both the vehicle and the students at the venue for the competition, which will be London this year.

However, due to the current unfavorable economic situation, the continuation of this effort is becoming more and more difficult. That is why the team chose this year to ask for the support of both the Greeks of the interior as well as the Greeks abroad through a "crowdfunding" campaign in Indiegogo.com. This effort, as far as we know, is made for the first time globally by a university and even by students. The success of such an operation may give a new impetus to research and to the innovative production in Greece, while maintaining the scientific staff in the country.

This campaign started on Saturday, 21 November 2015, and will last for sixty (60) days. Interested parties will be able to visit it on the online link http://igg.me/at/prometheus.
