Puzzlephone: Apparently Google isn't the only one company which is working feverishly to develop modular devices that will allow their owners to choose their technical characteristics.
After the famous Project Ara, the American giant, now the Finnish company Circular Devices unveils Puzzlephone
The mobile-"puzzle", according to the company based in Espoo - the "hometown" of Nokia -, is likened to the human body and is divided into three main parts: the spine, the heart and the brain. The backbone consists of the LCD screen, the speakers and the basic structure of the device. The heart houses the battery and secondary electronics, while the brain carries the processor and camera. The company's goal is to create a model that allows for easy and economical upgrading or repair of faults without the need for a complete device replacement.
Comeye-track comes the renewal
Circular Devices is currently testing its Android-powered standard devices, but estimates it could deliver its first models in the second half of 2015.
According to analysts, the new generation of mobile phones could generate a new rejuvenation in the device market, as consumers will be able to "freshen" their phone's performance over a small cost (rather than a big investment) simply replacing e.g. processor, battery, or camera.
