From June 29, the Reddit αλλάζει. Όλες του οι σελίδες θα χρησιμοποιούν encryption SSL, as the company announced in a recent post it.
The site is already available via SSL at https://www.reddit.com, but the new system will direct all links to the SSL-protected version of the site.
The goal, of course, is to protect the privacy of the users of the site, which has so far been seen as very high on its list of priorities.
Users connected via SSL will be visible on the networks as site visitors, but any communication with the site will be entirely private.
This means that network administrators will not be able to see the user name when linked to the bottom of the web page or the posts submitted, an important feature for a pseudonym-based site.
The last space, several large sites have started using encryption by default.
One of these is Wikipedia, which announced it only last week.
SSL encryption also prevents attackers from injecting malware into legitimate data streams, a growing concern in the wake of its surveillance leaks governmentof the United States by Snowden.
At the same time, there are increasing incentives to use SSL, for Companies that do not yet use encryption on their websites.
Last August, Google announced it would give a little boost to the ranking of sites using SSL, as a reward for protecting their users' privacy.
It is somewhat ironic, however, to reward Google with privacy initiatives when she is one of the first to breach them.
