A startup from Tokio built a 4,5 meter tall robot with four wheels. The robot is modeled after the “Mobile Suit Gundam” model from the Japanese cartoon series. It has a value of 3 millions dollars.
Reuters he says:
It is called ARCHAX after the archaeopteryx of the dinosaurs. The robot has cockpit displays that receive images from cameras attached to the outside so that the pilot can maneuver the joystick arms from inside his torso.
The 3,5-tonne robot, which will be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Expo later this month, has two modes: an upright “robot mode” and a “vehicle mode” in which it can travel at up to 10km per hour .
“Japan is very good at animation, games, robots and cars, so I thought it would be great if I could create a product which contains all these elements in one," said Ryo Yoshida, its 25-year-old CEO Tsubame Industries. .
"I wanted to create something that said, 'This is Japan.'
Yoshida plans to build and sell five of these machines to robot friends, but he hopes the robot could one day be used as disaster relief or in space.
