One researcher has expressed concern that this feature could be misused to share "fake news" that has a wider impact.

When browsing websites such as news articles on web Safari on iPhone or iPad, users can select and share a partial text snippet from the page rather than the entire page.

However, the text snippet can also come from a text input field that o can check and edit it.

In other words, users can type arbitrary text into the search bar of news sites and then "share" it via iMessage.

The link preview created by iMessage will display fake news as text from the actual page.
