A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, in region of Serres, for "piracy" of subscription satellite services
The captured person received illegally encrypted subscription channels and distributed them to 970 client clients for a sum of money
The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate of the Hellenic Police filed a case against a 35-year-old citizen in the area of Serres, who was arrested at the border of the highway for a case "piracy'Satellite pay services'.
The investigation of the case began following a lawsuit submitted to the Directorate of Electronic Crime Prosecution, by an attorney of an anonymous telecommunications company, according to which the 35-year-old, using appropriate logistics latest technology equipment had managed to achieve viewing of the company's subscription channels, without paying the legal monthly subscription.
Police officers of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, yesterday (16-06-2015) το πρωί, εντόπισαν τον δράστη στην οικία του, σε περιοχή των Σερρών και πραγματοποίησαν, παρουσία δικαστικού εκπροσώπου, νομότυπη έρευνα, στο πλαίσιο της οποίας βρέθηκε συνδεδεμένος στο διαδίκτυο και στην τηλεόραση, ένας δορυφορικός δέκτης και λοιπός τεχνολογικός εξοπλισμός, που χρησιμοποιούνταν για την προαναφερθείσα παράνομη δραστηριότητα, πράξη για την οποία ο 35χρονος συνελήφθη στα όρια του αυτοφώρου.

In the context of the research on the portable computer that was seized, a specific illegal program was found, in which the accused managed (by activating and deactivating) 970 client-users, from whom he received an unknown amount of money as compensation for his illegal services.
The company's financial loss from its up to now illegal activity amounts to at least the amount of 1.164.000 euros, a percentage of which is also a loss to the Greek State due to non-return of VAT, but also to the existing contract between the State and the said company for the provision of subscription services.
During the investigation at the defendant's home, found and seized:
- Digital satellite receiver, along with the controller,
- Internal hard drive,
- Portable electronic computerwith its power supply.
The 35-year-old, who is accused of violating the Laws on intellectual property and on the protection of subscription services, will be taken to the Prosecutor's Office of Serres, while the seized items will be sent to theaddress of Criminal Investigations of Northern Greece for examination.
