Script Kiddies behind the crisis in Qatar? Last week, Qatar's state television station was hit by hackers causing it to broadcast false information. As it turns out the hack may have been the work of "script kiddies".
The hack of the Qatari news agency and TV station was "extremely easy to carry out," sources told Motherboard, which allowed the attack to occur with very little effort on the part of the hackers.
The situation this hack created was dire. On May 23, the Qatar News Agency reported that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamin Al Thani, said that Iran was an Islamic power that could not be ignored. Given the tensions in the region, this comment caused mixed reactions reactions in nearby countries.
The problem, of course, was that Emir had not mentioned anything like that and the information had been "planted" by the hackers, who seem to have gone a step further after hacking into the station's Twitter, posting more false statements attributed to his Foreign Minister. Qatar
The motherboard cites a source familiar with the hack, who said the news agency could "it always belongs to script kiddiesSince there was virtually no security.
The attackers reportedly gained control of the entire server, system very easily managementof content and all social media accounts.
Her communications office governments stated that the statements were false but n damage has been. Qatar's relationship with neighboring countries is now stronger than ever. Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt withdrew their ambassadors, and other countries are considering following suit.
Flights from these countries to Qatar have been blocked.
