A free game for iOS and Android, called Sea Hero Quest, is now available for those users who are interested in helping to gather data on dementia.
The Sea Hero Quest is the creation of a major European collaboration, in which Cosmote is also involved, and aims to gather data on dementia. Data to help developers develop new diagnostic tests for the disease.
The purpose of the game is to find the way through islands and iceberg mazes, with the navigation data recorded. Measurements have to do with dementia disease as the first impact that people living with dementia experience is the loss of spatial orientation, even in familiar places and environments. The contribution of the game to research is quite important. According to the research team, "if 100.000 people play this game for 2 minutes each, the data collected correspond to more than 50 years of research."
