Major category change for Greek Wikipedia

As we had already mentioned in a previous article, Greek Wikipedia, last week exceeded the significant limit of 100.000 listings. And this limit is indeed important, first for "prestige" reasons, since Greek WikiRedia now stands in "B! category "of 100.000 + entries.
This is now clearly shown in the relevant Table with its entries Wikipedia in every language

So the first reason is purely psychological and we hope that this fact will give the trigger for even more effort, so that the version of Wikiredia in Greek can achieve even higher goals. 500.000 or even 1.000.000 entries may seem "unattainable" today. ”, but, as a people, we have proven many times in the past, that we excel at whatever we are serious about.

The other reason is credibility. It has been proven in practice that as long as the entries increase, WikiRedia's credibility increases. And this is because, to increase, to a large extent, the entries, more and more people have to deal with Wikipedia, which means more authors.

This is what Asaf Bartov, the spokesman for the Wikimedia Foundation, said in his speech at the Concert Hall just a year ago at 15 April 2013.

So this is category for the Greek Wikipedia, I hope it works as a catalyst and results in more and more people engaging with the largest encyclopedia ever built!

Greek-Cypriot Wikipedia:

  • 52 is the largest number of entries
  • has 270.068 pages in total.
  • has 22 administrators.
  • has 144.582 registered users, of which 890 active.
  • has been processed 4.725.325 times.
  • It currently has (14 / 4 / 2014) 100.321 entries

Congratulations to all those who have worked over the years to achieve this goal, the 100.000 listings from Greek Wikipedia.

Congratulations to the community, made up of volunteers who have a great sense of collegiality and have managed to organize a truly exemplary community on Greek Wikipedia!
