NSA-PRISM Scandal, About Responsibility (repost)

Lately we deleted several old posts (from 2010-2011-2012 and 13). Among them was the above title. The first publication was on July 18, 2013, which was the time when Snowden revealed the NSA's actions. We decided to republish the article because it is probably timeless:

More than a month we have been reading publications about US secret service operations, or to tell us, one of the secret services of USA. In the beginning the they were numb, we were probably trying to figure out the size. And I mention the size because I do not think there was anyone in our readership who believed that the United States did not scam something with a global media that has become so established in recent years.

NSA

Immediately after the first shock, the reactions started, while new information arrived. All the big Internet companies that increase the main (if not all) volume of the traffic, had allied themselves with the spy programs of USA. (Yes, in this article we will not throw the ball of responsibility at the US government *)

Η Microsoft, η Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),The GoogleThe Yahoo and who knows how many others, had given open to the NSA to facilitate their noble work. To watch what us, with our loved ones, sorry NSA I'm not a terrorist.

Immediately after the overthrow, the denials came. Have you honestly expected any of the above companies to take responsibility? I do not think. But it does not stop here.

In the following period, press reports were presented Yahoo has sued in the US because it never wanted to watch its customers.

However, this publication was submitted 2-3 days after that  Edward Snowden revealed the company's actions. Random?

Immediately after, there follows a publication that shows Yahoo almost regretfully saying that "after that we do not take your trust". Very diplomatically accepted acceptance! One can think too much. like say “Now Yahoo will probably try to beat her us" with all that entails.

The big and innocent Google followed. And she filed a lawsuit seeking the clarification of her name, who for so many years watches her as an eye pupil. You want to blame Google for keeping track of its users ... It was not new.

Then came her sudden decision to ensure the confidentiality of her users' data by changing her encryption.

Eventually, perhaps all of Snowden's statements, documented by NSA documents, may be all fairy tales and the only true thing in this case is that companies, always trying altruistically, can help us.

But since good sarcasm, but truth, seems to be on the opposite side of the river, we probably have a responsibility too. Everybody involved in the technology knows that there are no secrets on the Internet. OR NSA did exactly what they were ordered to do.

But we were not ordered to use us Skype or WhatsappOr gmail, Mac OS X ή Windows. And of course I blame myself that while I know the action of Google and every Google I continue to use gmail.

H MicrosoftThe Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),The Google, And the Yahoo they will never say they have allied with the secret services, because this will cost financially and not only.

And if they say or change ever, they can not ensure that they will not repeat it in the future, especially when things are quiet.

That is precisely why I think that we, and we, have the responsibility. We allow them to enter our homes because we simply put them on.

*Countries like the US rule for at least 50 years, let's not laugh. Is not that the target reaches the next dose. So it is not a matter of government but of national policy and of course interests.
