As promised by Microsoft, Skype from today works on Edge without plugins and without having to download any app.
Skype announced that it was trying to incorporate ORTC (a standard for video streams over the Web) from the end of 2014.
Meanwhile, Edge became compatible with technology last September, so today's announcement should not be a huge surprise.
Before you could use Skype on the Web, but you needed to install a plugin to do so calls.
Now you can just open it Skype for Web, the Outlook.com, the Office Online or OneDrive natively through Edge, and no additional one is required procedure the regulation.
Note that the other person you are talking to should have the latest version of Skype for Windows or Mac. Currently the calls to Android or iOS do not work.
