Microsoft released a new version of Skype for Linux Alpha, bringing new options that will improve the end-user experience with the application.
Skype for Linux Alpha 1.8 comes with a new option to mark all unread messages as read, and updated option searchs to support non-Latin characters.
There are also several stability improvements, and Microsoft says the improvement in application performance is already noticeable.
According to the above, the new update focuses more on the performance of the app, rather than adding new features, although it's no secret that too many are still hoping that Microsoft will add more characteristics which are already available in Windows.
Sharing screen, for example, is not yet available, even though it is one of Skype's most requested features.
For now, it's a good idea to know that Skype for Linux Alpha is still Alpha. So you may encounter bugs and other issues if you use it.
