Greeks, following the trend of other European countries, prefer online purchases from home sellers and are driven mainly by the potentially lower prices. They make one to five online purchases per quarter and spend up to 500 euros overall on e-commerce.

With regard to online purchases, the most important incentive (76%) is the discovery of lower prices than in physical stores. Nearly half of consumers (45%) pay their orders through cash on delivery, 29% via credit card and 25% via prepaid card. 27,5% of online purchases are made by domestic online stores.

The vast majority of citizens believe that thanks to online access, they are improving their transactions with the State (90%) and gaining more public participation (88%). With regard to Internet security, 60% declare that they have encountered such problems while 40% is not.

In the education sector, more than half of Greek schools (54%) now have their own website, while 30% of students now use a 'smart' mobile phone in their school.

The survey also focuses on individual population groups, elderly people, people with disabilities, immigrants, low-educated people and the unemployed, in order to highlight how they use the internet and their particular digital needs.
