The Cybercrime Prosecution Directorate filed a criminal case against five people, as well as a regular lawsuit against one person for child pornography.
In particular, in the context of preventive actions to tackle the phenomenon of child pornography, business με την κωδική ονομασία «UNCOVERII» και μετά από πολύμηνη, ενδελεχή και εμπεριστατωμένη διαδικτυακή έρευνα και ψηφιακή ανάλυση των ανευρεθέντων ψηφιακών δεδομένων, με τη χρήση ειδικών λογισμικών προγραμμάτων, εντοπίστηκαν χρήστες του διαδικτύου, εντός της ελληνικής επικράτειας, οι οποίοι είχαν πρόσφορο προς διαμοιρασμό πλήθος αρχείων με περιεχόμενο πορνογραφίας ανηλίκων.
Yes, according to duration of the investigation, users with high activity were identified and in particular it was observed that they had a total of (3.629) records of sexual abuse of minors available for sharing, making use of a total of at least (247) different electronic traces.
The above were brought to the attention of the Athens Prosecutor's Office and a relevant committee was issued to remove the secrecy of communications, while after correspondence with the internet service providers and the further police preliminary investigation, the data of the persons involved and their place of residence was obtained.
Following the above, police units of the Electronic Crime Prosecution Directorate, carried out searches at the homes of those involved, where, after their involvement was established, a total of (14) cruel discs.
The on-site search of the digital evidence of the five arrested found a number of files (photos and videos) of child pornography, while the sixth perpetrator was involved in illegal activity, without meeting the conditions of the spontaneous procedure.
The confiscated digital evidence will be sent to the competent Department of the Directorate of Criminological Investigations for further laboratory examination.
The five arrested with the cases against them were taken to the competent Prosecutor and referred to an Investigator, while the case against the sixth perpetrator was submitted to the competent Prosecutor's Office.
