With this move, the company seems to believe that the Internet of things can be a significant growth market. Symantec also has built-in security, code signing and managed tools public insurance keys to securing the Internet of Things.
The general idea behind the software is that the company will use mechanical learning to analyze the Passive Controller Area Network of a car.
The company's Anomaly Detection for Automotive software demonstrates learning the normal behavior of the car, so it can detect an attack if it notices that something is not normal.
The software will work with most brands and models, as the company said.
Symantec's software will be integrated into cars and will probably be sold by car makers. The application will be invisible to the driver and will use minimal memory and computational power.
According to Symantec, Anomaly Detection for the automotive industry is available from now.
