After two years in a top job at Symantec, The Steve Bennett was dismissed by the company.
The security company announced Thursday that Bennett is no longer chairman and CEO, and that he has resigned from the company's board of directors. A member of the Board of Directors, Mr Michael Brown will take over as interim President and CEO, effective immediately.
"Our priority now is to find a leader who can leverage our company assets and a leadership team that will take us to the next stage of innovation and development of Symantec products," said Daniel Schulman, Chairman of Symantec .
"This decision was the result of an ongoing procedureof consultation, and was not caused by any incident or impropriety.”
Η Symantec said a special board of the board would immediately begin the search for a new CEO.
Ο Bennett had replaced Enrique Salem as CEO in 2012 as the company sought to reverse the drop of its profits. Bennett has served on Symantec's Board of Directors since early 2010 and became chairman in 2011. He previously served as chairman and CEO of Intuit for seven years, and before that worked for General Electric for 23 years.
