The monthly Intelligence Report of Symantec provides the latest analyzes of cyber-security threats, trends in malware, spam, and other potential business risks from the company's team.
H εταιρεία εντόπισε ένα σημαντικό data breach που αναπτύχθηκε τον Μάιο και εξέθεσε περισσότερες από 145 εκατομμύρια identities, according to the Intelligence Report, which was published in June, assessing the global threat landscape for the month of May. Until May, the year was relatively quiet in terms of the number and size of data breaches. This follows a relatively quiet three months – data breach-wise – at the end of 2013, where data breaches resulted in the exposure of more than 100 million identities each month, leading Symantec to mark 2013 as the year of mega- breach.
Το Ransomware is another area of the threat landscape where Symantec reported a slight decrease in threats. Ransomware activity peaked in November 2013, when Symantec blocked 861.000 potential Ransomware infections. Numbers remained relatively high during the early months of 2014, but declined in both April and May, currently at only 17% of the peak activity seen in November 2013.
In addition, 4 zero-day vulnerabilities appeared in May, according to the report. There were 66 variations Android malware per family and phishing spam, while email virus rates were all up in May after falling in April.
