The company better safetySymantec has decided to take home security to the next level and introduced a new router that can block intrusions before they reach your connected devices.
It is called Norton Core, and was introduced at CES 2017. The royter is capable of scanning all packets of data transmitted from your connected devices to detect malware or any form of suspicious activity that could put your information at risk.
Symantec equipped the super-robust hardware router to make sure that the connection speed would not be affected. So the device has a dual-core processor clocked at 1,7 GHz that can guarantee a maximum speed at 2.5 Gbps.
"4K streaming, no problem. Core is a performance factory. With a 4×4 MU-MIMO foundation and ultrafast 802.11ac WiFi, the Core is designed to output a maximum throughput of 2,5 Gbps. The innovative antenna design combined with advanced beamforming provides incredible coverage and spectrum,” says Symantec.
The router has an advanced system that uses the so-called Security Score. What does it do? The Security Score automatically tracks the transmitted data and detects any possible security issue, and gives ratings to help users prioritize the necessary fixes on their networks.
In case the router discovers any malicious activity, it automatically isolates the devices and sends a notification to the user, trying to protect all other connected devices and make sure that no contamination.
The router is already available for pre-orders at the 200 dollar price, and Symantec says sending the device will start in the summer of 2017. In addition, those who order the new router will also receive one year of free subscription to Norton Core Security Plus.
The protection package is for up to 20 devices, from computers, Macs, smartphones up to tablets.
