Eight big technology companies against the NSA and other fairy tales

microsoft nsaEight of the biggest tech companies, frustrated by revelations about government spying on , in of their customers are trying to fix their reputation. Larry Page, its chief , calling for security law reform around the world said: "We call on the US government to lead the way."

So now eight companies(Apple, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, AOL), led by Google and Microsoft, presented a plan to regulate online espionage and called on the United States to limit NSA actions.

"Companies have a business and financial interest in protecting the privacy of their users and will have to push aggressively for change," said Trevor Timm, an activist in Electronic Frontier Foundation. "The NSA has pre-mass surveillance for a simple reason: its cooperation with technology and telecommunications companies. If tech companies no longer want this partnership, they can force major reforms.”

Very good traffic, but what we have mentioned several times at iGuRu.gr is that Secret Services will always be Secret Services. The question is why all these major technology companies had not reacted before Snowden's revelations?
The reaction came when public opinion was shaken and costs began to become financial. The utopia of reforms to curb NSA's spy operations will last until the next Snowden. Why Secret Service will continue to do their job, including the use of legitimate and unfair means to achieve their purpose.
As we have already seen in her case Lavabit, the US services extorted the company when it did not agree to cooperate with them.
Even if there are reforms, there will always be "work under the table."
