The first European accident with Tesla Model 3 was made in Greece

On Friday, May 25, 2018, just outside of Florina, the first car crash in Europe was recorded with Tesla Model 3 and even in autopilot mode.

The driver of the Tesla Model 3 electric model is Mr. You You Xue, one of the world's first owners of this model, who was on a tour in Europe and , having so far traveled around 39.000 kilometers in 25 different countries.

According to his statement, while driving on the E65 motorway, he drove off in obscure off-road conditions, turning abruptly to the right and striking completely unexpectedly at the roadside barriers. The vehicle was operating at that time with the Autopilot driving system activated. The car, as you will see in the photos, suffered serious damage, which cannot be repaired in our country due to the lack of qualified specialized workshops.

The driver of the vehicle claimed that the time of the event was 120 km / h and conditions were perfect, as no other vehicles were near, the weather was as good as the road condition and with the correct stripes. At the time of the accident one hand was touching the steering wheel while looking at the navigation chart on his Smartphone. All of the above suggest that the accident is due to malfunction of the autonomous driving system.

Tesla itself disclaims any responsibility and emphasizes that even when the autonomous driving function is activated, the they have to keep with the hands on the wheel. In addition, Tesla said that the Model 3 has not yet been approved to drive outside the US and Canada, and that Mr. Xue had previously been informed that the company is not represented in Eastern Europe and does not provide connectivity services for its vehicles there.
