Test Pilot projects until now were only available for desktop versions of the Firefox browser. However, it appears that the Mozilla Foundation is expanding the use of test applications to mobile devices as well. New version of Android Notes for Firefox and Firefox Lockbox for iOS devices prove it.
The Firefox Lockbox 2017 was released, as a first alpha version and was a password manager. Lockbox replaces the old Firefox password manager.
The alpha version of Lockbox was quite functional but did not support importing or exporting passwords. It required a Firefox account for more better safety αλλά δεν είχε απαραίτητες functions such as automatic login or auto-completion of user data in login forms.
The Mozilla Foundation released Firefox Notes on trial in July of 2017 for Firefox running on desktops. Adds a basic note function to the browser. In April, 2018 released an update that supported many new features in the notes.
So the two above projects (Lockbox and Notes) were released as standalone apps for iOS and Android, not as browser extensions.
Lockbox is the first Test Pilot for Firefox on iOS devices. Lockbox syncs passwords with Firefox versions for computers and supports Face ID and Fingerprint touch to lock-unlock the application.
Firefox Lockbox requires a Firefox account. It is a standalone app, not an extension for Firefox, and is only available in select countries (United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand).
The Mozilla Foundation is reportedly developing an Android version of the app.
Notes now come as a standalone application for Android devices. Users can download and install Notes from the official Google Store to keep their notes synchronized between Firefox installations on other devices.
You can write notes on Android and sync them with desktop you to read your desktop notes from your Android device.
