TestTube is a new YouTube page that lists some of the new service features that are still in the experiment. It's a page where you can see that Google is trying out this time.
The first Google service that launched a similar test group was Gmail. Gmail Labs are still available today, with several new features that may be added to the service at some point.
Let's go to TestTube now that it seems to work for exactly the same reason. You can visit the page and you will see available all the experimental features developed by the developers of the company. You can also enable and test them at channel you on YouTube.
At this time, there are only two new features listed on the page.
The first feature referred to as 4K video at 60 frames per second (3840x2160px). The page gives a 4K video playlist to watch on YouTube. It also tells you where and how you can find it other 4K videos, using a filter on search of YouTube.
To do this, simply search for something on YouTube, click the filters button at the top left then click on 4K below.
But to play 4K videos you will need a little tweak. In Google Chrome there is none problem, but if you use Firefox, follow the steps below mentioned by iGuRu.gr:
In the browser address bar, type
about: config
and press enter.
Confirm that you will be careful in message which will appear.
Look for the following parameters and make sure their values are set correctly:
media.fragmented-mp4.exposed is set to true. media.fragmented-mp4.ffmpeg.enabled is set to true. media.mediasource.enabled is set to true.
Restart your browser and immediately afterwards you must have the 4K options in the image quality menu provided the video is 4K.
The second experiment features a new YouTube player interface. The two main differences with the current player are the transparency of the player and the fact that you hide after a moment automatically.
You can turn on the new player or even restore the original if you do not like it at any time on the same page.
